About Us
Reel Thanx is dedicated to the men and women of our armed forces. It began as a desire to show our support and thanks to these brave men and women. We wanted to focus on wounded soldiers as a way to let them know how much their sacrifices mean to us.
In October 2007, through generous donations from our West Texas businesses and the community, our founder, Mike Mundy, along with friends and donors took five heroes on an all expense paid fishing trip for the weekend.
Located between the Mexico and the Texas border, Lake Amistad in Del Rio, Tex., is the perfect place. With over 1,000 miles of shoreline, it boasts spectacular views and top-notch fishing, and has been voted the top bass fishing lake in the U.S. At the end of that trip, Reel Thanx was born.
In March 2007, Academy Sports + Outdoors took interest in our small group and officially became our first nationally recognized sponsor. This sponsorship along with our wonderful and big-hearted hometown supporters ensured the longevity of our dream here at Reel Thanx.
Without all these great people around us, Reel Thanx would not be able to what we do.

MISSION STATEMENT “To honor our soldiers for their patriotism, bravery and love of country by getting them back to nature for nurture. Taking them fishing so they can focus on what they can do, not what they no longer can. Finally, to inspire bass clubs around the country to seek out these heroes in local hospitals and take them fishing.”
